Brownies

Recipe (lower fat)
1 egg, ½ c. applesauce, ½ c. water + 1 brownie mix 
Mix by hand.  Do not under mix.
Bake at 350 degrees for 33 to 35 minutes!
Reminders for the brownies:
žLine your pan with AL foil (shiny side up)
žSpray with cooking spray
žCoat with flour lightly
žSET A TIMER for baking time!!

Dirt Cups (children's foods)



Dirt Cups
2 c. cold milk
1 package (4 serving size) chocolate flavor instant pudding
1 tub (8 oz) cool whip, thawed
1 package (16 oz) chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed
8 – 10 (7 oz.) plastic cups
Suggested Decorations:  gummy worms & frogs, candy flowers
(Makes 8- 10 dirt cups)
__________________1.  Wash your hands.

__________________2.  Fill the sink with hot water and soap.

__________________3.  Take the supply tray to get your ingredients
                                               
__________________4.  Pour milk into large bowl.

__________________5.  Add pudding mix.

__________________6.  Beat with whisk until well blended, 1 to 2 minutes.

__________________7.  Let stand 5 minutes.

__________________8.  Stir in whipped topping and HALF of crushed cookies.

__________________9.  Place 1 T. crushed cookies into cups.

__________________10.  Fill cups ¾ full with pudding mixture.

__________________11.   Top with remaining crushed cookies.
__________________12.   Refrigerate 10 minutes.

__________________13.  Decorate.
__________________14.  Wash ALL DISHES AND EQUIPMENT & dry. Put all
                                            equipment back in it original location.

__________________15.  Drain sink and wipe out with a towel.

__________________16.  Place dirty towels in laundry basket and fold and replace
                                           two towels and one washcloth in the drawer in your kitchen.

Homemade Mac N Cheese Recipe



Nutrition & Food I                                                           Homemade Macaroni & Cheese “LAB”
Objective:  To identify foods high in calcium and to practice basic food preparation skills.
Macaroni & Cheese
1 ½ c. uncooked elbow macaroni
¼ c. margarine
Sprinkle with salt
Dash of  pepper
¼ c. all –purpose flour
1 ¾ c. milk
8 oz. velveeta cheese
(makes approx. 1 ½ qt. casserole)
________________________1.  Wash your hands.

________________________2.  Prepare the supply tray with:
                                                                                1 medium mixing bowl
                                                                                Liquid measuring cup
                                                                                1 c. dry measuring cup
                                                                                ½ c. dry measuring cup

CHEESE SAUCE DIRECTIONS
Macaroni Noodles Directions
3.  Melt margarine in a saucepan.
3.  fill a Dutch oven ½ full of water
4.  Blend in flour.
4.  Bring water to a boil
5.  Cook over LOW HEAT, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth and bubbly.
5.  Add macaroni
6.  Remove from the heat.
6.  Cook macaroni in rapidly boiling water.
7.  Stir in milk.
7.  Drain macaroni in greased 1 ½ quart casserole dish.
8.  Heat until boiling, stirring constantly.  Medium HEAT

9.  Boil and stir 1 minute.

10.  Remove from heat – stir in cubed cheese until melted.


_________________________________11.  Stir cheese into macaroni in the casserole dish.

_________________________________12.  Cover with plastic wrap and label with a sharpie marker.
                                                                                                (your hour and your kitchen #) Bring to Mrs. Smith
                                                                                                for storage in the refrigerator.
_________________________________13.  Wash the dishes.
_________________________________14.  Rinse the dishes.
_________________________________15.  Dry the dishes.
_________________________________16.  Clean up counters and stovetop and ALL equipment.

Bake at 350 degrees for approx. 45 minutes

Frosted Chocolate Milk Shake Recipe



Frosted Chocolate Shake
½ c. chocolate syrup
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chilled milk
4 ½ c. vanilla ice cream
4 tsp. sugar
(Makes approx. 5 cups)
__________________1.  Wash your hands.

__________________2.  Fill the sink with hot water and soap.

__________________3.  Prepare the supply tray with:
                                                Pitcher (from the blender)
                                                1 c. dry measuring cup
                                                ½ c. dry measuring cup
                                                1 c. liquid measuring cup
                                                spoon
__________________4.  Go to supply area and measure
                                                Ice cream
                                                Milk
                                                Chocolate syrup
__________________5.  Prepare the blender.

__________________6.  Measure the 2 t. vanilla and add to the pitcher.

__________________7.  Measure 1 T. plus 1 tsp. sugar and add to the pitcher.

__________________8.  Blend the ingredients in the blender; stopping the blender
                                                to stir occasionally.
__________________9.  Serve immediately.
